Hapkido

Hapkido is a Korean martial art which translates to "the way of coordinating energy" or "the way of coordinated power". It is a blend of ki (mind force) and external (physical) techniques, with the physical moves being structured around circular movements to use the opponents force against them.

Hapkido is a very well rounded martial art and its practitioners learn to defend themselves against untrained attacks or attacks from other martial arts styles. By covering this broad range of skills, Hapkido practitioners learn to use joint locks, kicks, punching, throwing, and pressure point strikes to defend themselves.

Like in Tae Kwon do and other Korean martial arts, Hapkido stylists will be trained physically, for endurance, power and speed, but there is still a strong ki influence, which goes into generating strength from the mind rather than through the body.
